Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı, a faculty member of the Department of Energy Systems Engineering at Yaşar University, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Green Energy.
Previously included in the list of ‘The Most Influential Scientists in the World’ prepared by Stanford University, Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı’s long-standing academic work in the field of ‘Exergy’, which refers to the quality of energy, has once again been recognized by the International Association of Green Energy.
One of three scientists in the world
Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı received his award recently at a ceremony held in Ningbo, China. The International Association of Green Energy is a non-profit organization that works to create a network for education and information exchange across academia, industry, and society in all areas of green energy. Since 2021, the association has been awarding scientists who have made successful contributions in the field of energy. As a result of biometric analyses conducted by the association, Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı was recognized as one of three scientists in the world with the most scientific publications in the field of ‘Exergy’, making him a source of pride for our country.
Twelve years ago, Prof. Dr. Hepbaşlı was one of the founders of the first Department of Energy Systems Engineering in İzmir and the Aegean Region at Yaşar University. He expressed his happiness at receiving such an award, stating, “I have a 43-year career. Ten of those years were spent working in various sectors in the İzmir industry. Afterwards, I worked at different universities both domestically and abroad. In 2012, I was involved in the establishment of the Energy Systems Engineering Department at Yaşar University. One of the most important factors leading to this success is the academic footprint at an international level. Scientifically, this is referred to as the ‘h-index’, which is a performance indicator for academics. I call this my academic footprint. As a result of my academic footprint and many years of academic work, I was honored with this recognition. I will continue my work in this field with the strength I derive from my students.”
