Emphasizing that journalists are the objective and true voice of society, Mayor Yetişkin said, “The Journalists and Press Day is celebrated every year on July 24th due to the abolition of censorship in the Turkish press on July 24, 1908. I know that despite all the obstacles and difficulties you encounter while fulfilling this challenging duty, you perform your profession with dedication. Therefore, I want to express my appreciation for you once again. The importance of local press is particularly significant. The dear members of the press working in Efeler contribute to raising awareness among our citizens by closely following the events in our city and bringing local issues to the agenda. In this respect, the contributions of the local press in our Efeler district are of great importance. We take great pride in being by your side as Efeler Municipality and always try to show our support. July 24th, Journalists and Press Day, is a day that reinforces our belief in press freedom, democracy, and freedom of expression. The ability of press members to perform their duties freely is one of the fundamental conditions of a democratic society, and we believe that this right must always be protected. On this special day, I want to emphasize that we are always alongside the workers of the press. Wishing to walk towards a brighter, freer, and more conscious future together with you, I sincerely celebrate July 24th, Journalists and Press Day.”
