President Özdoğan: “Press members contribute to the strengthening of democracy.”

Hacılar Mayor Bilal Özdoğan issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of July 24 Press Day. In his message, Mayor Özdoğan emphasized the role of press members in informing, enlightening the society, and providing accurate information to the public.

Hacılar Mayor Bilal Özdoğan pointed out that July 24 is celebrated as ‘Journalists and Press Day’ every year due to the abolition of censorship in the Turkish press, and he published a message. In his message, Mayor Özdoğan stated the following:

“July 24 is a symbol of the media’s ability to operate freely and independently. Our press members contribute to the strengthening of democracy with their efforts in informing, enlightening society, and providing accurate information to the public. The press is a mirror of society, and our press members fulfill their duty of being the voice of our people with great dedication. In today’s world, where access to information is rapidly increasing, the impartiality shown by our press members while fulfilling their duties and their efforts to provide accurate and quick information are commendable. I congratulate our press workers who strive to inform the public correctly under all circumstances and wish them success in their duties. On this occasion, I thank all press members who contribute to the development and promotion of our district and ensure that our people access accurate information, and I celebrate July 24 Press Day with my best wishes.”

At the end of his message, Mayor Özdoğan stated that they are always by the side of press members and will continue to support them, saying, “I would like to thank our press members once again for their efforts and dedication under difficult conditions, and I congratulate the entire press community on Press Day.”
