Pay attention to job opportunities when choosing a department during the preference period

After the announcement of the YKS results, the preference period has begun. Before the preferences, which will take place between July 25 and August 2, Mahmut Çelik, the Promotion Director of Near East University, gave important advice to students. Emphasizing that students should choose their departments according to job opportunities, Çelik highlighted that students who want to study in the health field should prefer universities that have hospitals.

The results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) were announced on July 16. Students entered a challenging process of making preferences based on their scores and success rankings. Before the preferences to be made at https://ais.osym.gov.tr or through the ÖSYM Candidate Operations Mobile Application between July 25 and August 2, Mahmut Çelik explained the points students should pay attention to in their university preferences.

Practical opportunities are important when choosing a department in the health field

Speaking at the University Preference Fair, Çelik said, “We are starting the preference period for our candidate students. We are trying to assist students in this challenging process.” He stated that students should primarily consider job opportunities when choosing a department, saying, “They should prefer departments that will provide more job opportunities. If they are choosing medicine, they need to pay attention to whether the university they will choose has a hospital. It is important for them to ensure that the university they choose in the health field has a medical faculty hospital. If they are selecting a dental faculty, it is also important that there is a dental hospital.”

The only foundation university with an animal hospital

Emphasizing that Near East University has a strong health network covering Northern Cyprus, Çelik stated, “While we meet the health needs of the island with two medical faculty hospitals and a dental hospital, we also provide our students with strong practical opportunities.” He noted that Near East University is the only foundation university with an animal hospital among foundation universities, stating: “We have a veterinary faculty. Currently, we have the first and only animal hospital among foundation universities in Turkey. We also guarantee job opportunities for students who will choose engineering. We provide internship and job opportunities at our electric car factory GÜNSEL for successful students. We offer internship opportunities while studying and job guarantees after graduation, which are available in many fields.”

“We are third in Turkey in THE ranking”

“As Near East University, in the latest list announced by Times Higher Education (THE), we are the 139th university in the world ranking. We are the third in Turkey and the first in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC),” said Çelik. “We have 196 different departments for our students, both undergraduate and associate degree. We are trying to assist parents by providing preference scholarships up to 90% at our price point. We provide many facilities for our students on campus, such as dormitories and sports complexes, to ensure they integrate with the campus,” he concluded.
