In Düzce, a woman who has dreamed of opening a café since childhood has succeeded in opening her dream café. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, she works as a waitress in her own café while also personally handling the renovation and organization of the café.

Ayşe Janves Batur, who opened her dream café in Düzce, started working in her field to save money after graduating from Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. However, during the pandemic, she was forced to leave her job, during which time she saved some of the loans and scholarships she received during her university years without spending them, and also began saving by working as a waitress in cafés. Five years after her graduation, Batur has realized her dream café, and when her savings for the café rent, supplies, and other expenses ran out, she began to take care of the café’s interior decoration, painting, and renovation herself. Taking advantage of her education as a Fine Arts graduate, Batur personally handled the decoration and painting works inside the café, and with the support of her friends, she also took over the service and waiting tasks.

“I choose the colors and patterns in my café, I paint them”

Providing information about her work in her dream café, Ayşe Janves Batur said, “I am a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts. It was a long-standing dream of mine to open a café and also to work with pasta. Additionally, I had a little savings, and I added part of the scholarship I received at university to this. I decided to evaluate my savings in this way. When I graduated from university, the pandemic came in between. I had to leave my job due to the pandemic. For these reasons, I had to postpone my dream for a few years. In my café, I choose the colors and patterns, I do the painting. There were shelves on the walls. We took them down and made a ledge. Most of the materials here were made from the materials that came out of the café. I evaluated the materials to be used here by enlarging, reducing, and cutting them. Right now, there is no waitress. My friends are helping. I don’t have any employees for now. My dream is for this place to grow and become a more beautiful place. I have a lot that I want to add. I hope I can do those too.”
