Phone repairers warning against leaving mobile phones on charge for long periods in extremely hot weather also alerted citizens about fake batteries.
Due to high temperatures in summer, the batteries of mobile phones can overheat, causing some problems. One of the most common problems is the breakdown of charge integrated circuits. Leaving mobile phone batteries plugged in for too long after charging can shorten the lifespan of the device due to swelling. Phone repairers recommend that mobile phones should not be left on charge for long hours in hot weather and also warned against fake batteries.
Selim Koç, a phone repairer in Bayburt, pointed out that devices experience heating issues due to the excessive warming of phone batteries in hot months. Repairer Koç stated that they do not recommend the use of fake batteries and expressed the following:
“During the summer months, batteries get very hot, which also causes the phones to heat up, and alongside this, the battery swells, leading to some problems. The most common issue caused by high temperatures is the breakdown of charge integrated circuits in phones. This is also directly related to the battery. Fake batteries do not actually cause many explosions. However, they can swell quickly, shorten the lifespan of the phone, and reduce device efficiency. Therefore, fake batteries are generally not recommended. There are some quality brands on the market that are preferred more. In normal retail phone shops, original phone batteries may not be available for every model. Some model batteries can only be found at technical services. For this reason, various quality brands available in the market are used. We recommend these brands, we use them, but we also specify that they are of A quality. Even if they are of good quality, we openly state that they are aftermarket products. When citizens bring their phones to us for battery replacement, they can get them back in 1 hour. Since technical services may not always have parts for every model, they can give a time frame of 1 week, 10 days, or even 1 month in legal processes. As some procedures in technical services are delayed and since we are more accessible, people tend to prefer us more. Citizens should especially be careful not to keep their phones on charge for too long during the summer. Because the phone heats up during charging. Therefore, the plug should be pulled once the battery is full. This way, both the phone and the battery will have a longer lifespan. Additionally, no device should be exposed to the sun.
