An announcement from the muhtar about villagers wasting water

In Afyonkarahisar, the village headman made an announcement that the residents had never heard before, saying, “I am tired of this water issue, this is my last announcement to you. Because of those watering their gardens, people can’t even take a shower.”

Hasan Aydın, the headman of Kayadibi Village, which is part of the Sinanpaşa district, drew attention to the water crisis in the village, stating that due to garden watering, many households could not receive water. Aydın called on the villagers to be sensitive to this issue and expressed that water waste must be stopped. In his last announcement made through the mosque’s loudspeaker, Aydın issued stern warnings to those wasting water due to garden watering. He said, “I watch those watering their gardens; some are religious leaders, some are pilgrims, some don’t care about the headmanship and waste water. I am tired of this water issue. This is my last announcement to you. The waters coming from the mountains have decreased. We told you about the rights of others, but you didn’t understand. We talked about the rights of neighbors, but you didn’t understand. Because of those watering their gardens, 70 households do not have access to water. It’s the harvest time; people are coming from the fields and the threshing machine. The headman says we can’t take a shower. Because of those watering their gardens, people can’t take a shower, they can’t find a bowl of water.”

“What should we do, should we leave Kayadibi?”

Headman Aydın stated that the villagers curse those who waste water and do not forgive them, saying, “They are always cursing you. They do not forgive you. I receive calls daily from 30-35 people. Our waters have decreased in the plateau. On Fridays, the religious leader tells you, but you don’t listen. The headmanship announces twice a week, but you don’t listen. What should we do, should we leave Kayadibi? If water waste continues, we will take more serious measures. This is my last announcement. Daily, 70 people’s water is not flowing, those watering their gardens should think about it. I am tired of this garden issue.”
