President Tugay distributed ashura in Örnekköy.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay attended the ashura event organized by the Eskişehir Solidarity Culture and Solidarity Association (ESDER) and the Anatolian Culture Art Education Research and Solidarity Association (AKSEV). Distributing ashura to the citizens, Mayor Tugay said, “There are prayers that come from the mouth regarding goodness, righteousness, and beauty. May those prayers be accepted, and may we all experience days free from all kinds of evil, disasters, and calamities together.”

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay shared in the ashura dessert prepared by ESDER and AKSEV. The ashura event, held at the Örnekköy Alevi Cultural Center, was also attended by Bayraklı Mayor İrfan Önal, ESDER President Yaşar Hanlı, AKSEV President Sait Atar, council members, and muhtars.

“Goodness and righteousness need to be upheld”

In a speech at the program, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay stated, “I have tried to be among you as much as I can, to share the value of this spiritual environment with you. I will continue to do so as much as possible. We have good days, and we also have bad days. Our ashura is being distributed here, but we will taste it along with a sorrow. After every loss, one thinks; we should value our loved ones more, we should do whatever we can to support good, right, and beautiful people in the world. We are living in a time when goodness and righteousness need to be upheld. If there were no people thinking this way, the existence of this world and humanity would not be possible. In this country, in the world, there is goodness in the hearts of these souls, there is beauty. There are prayers that come from the mouth regarding goodness, righteousness, and beauty. May those prayers be accepted, and may we all experience days free from all kinds of evil, disasters, and calamities together. May the souls we have lost rest in peace. They are among us and will continue to be among us. We are lucky to have lived with them, we are lucky to have known them, we are lucky to have spent time with them. As long as we live, they will not die.”

Mayor Tugay distributed ashura

ESDER President Yaşar Hanlı and AKSEV President Sait Atar wished for the acceptance of the ashura servings. During the event, where folk songs were sung and the semah dance was performed, a prayer for ashura was recited. After stirring the ashura, Mayor Tugay served it to the citizens.
