Davut Gürkan, the Provincial Chairman of the Ak Party in Bursa, stated that the Gölecik Dam, constructed in Karacabey for irrigation and drinking water purposes, will contribute 345 million lira to the country’s economy, saying, “With the understanding of sustainable water management, our government has recently put into service significant water structures in Bursa center and its districts. The Gölecik Dam, which we will open soon, will provide significant added value to Karacabey and the surrounding area.”

Stating that the aim is to contribute 345 million lira annually to the national economy through irrigated agriculture as a result of the completion of all phases of the project, Ak Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan said, “With the completion of the Gölecik Dam, constructed for irrigation and drinking water purposes, 45,870 decares of land will be irrigated, and at the same time, the annual drinking and utility water need of 7.44 million cubic meters for the Karacabey district center and its surrounding area will be met.”

Gürkan noted that work on the Gölecik Dam is ongoing and, in this context, approximately 637,000 cubic meters of concrete has been poured so far, and the body filling has been completed up to an elevation of 91.00 meters, stating, “Additionally, simultaneously; the construction of injection and drainage galleries (at an elevation of 91.00 meters) is continuing upward towards the slopes. The installation of the pressure pipes for the Water Intake Shaft is ongoing, and the construction of the Water Intake Structure (at an elevation of 91.60 meters) is being carried out simultaneously with the body filling. The construction of the elevator/ventilation shaft (at an elevation of 92.00 meters) and precast stair manufacturing (at an elevation of 92.10 meters) is also continuing alongside the body filling. The construction of the energy dissipation pool has been completed.”
