President Büyükkılıç stood up for Yamula Eggplant.

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç inspected the ongoing works for the construction of sales locations for Yamula Eggplants, which he promised to the producers and sellers in Yemliha.

Mayor Büyükkılıç visited the product promotion and sales locations initiated by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality along the Kayseri-Ankara highway. While inspecting the site, gathering information from citizens, and listening to their wishes, Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated that they are preparing modern and comfortable sales locations with road safety considerations, in cooperation with the governorship and highways, in the area where the world-famous Yamula Eggplant is produced and sold on-site. Beginning his speech by providing information about Yamula Eggplant and emphasizing its significant value, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated, “First of all, Yamula is known to the public as ‘Yamula.’ It is very important to us. It is a significant production center and base. In this regard, our Yamula Eggplant, which has been recognized with a geographical indication, is one of our most important values. It also makes a fantastic stew. Let’s share that immediately from here. Also, let’s express that you should beware of imitations.”

Describing the project as ‘an important project,’ Büyükkılıç continued:

“Within the marketing logic of this beautiful product, our fellow citizens from Yamula were trying to create a sales environment by adding products produced in other regions alongside it. This was one of our important projects because we felt that our brothers and sisters here were in a state of grievance due to the visually unappealing conditions. We are working to create an environment where they can sell their products comfortably by the roadside, with a mosque and restrooms. We hope to respond to our citizens’ expectations by expanding and improving the physical environment here. In about 1 week to 10 days, our eggplants will be ready. In this way, we will provide this quality service to our citizens. I would like to especially thank our governor and the regional director of highways who approached us with understanding during this process. I also thank the rightful owners and landowners here who approached with understanding.”

“A Sales Center Suitable for Our Region Will Be Established”

Stating that a sales center suitable for the region will be established upon completion of the project, Mayor Büyükkılıç said: “God willing, a sales center that suits our city and region will thus be established. I wish you all the best in advance. I also thank our muhtar who always opens his heart to us and stands constructively by our side.” Yemliha Neighborhood Muhtar Mehmet Adanalı expressed that whenever they called Mayor Büyükkılıç, they received a response, emphasizing their satisfaction with the services provided by Mayor Büyükkılıç and the Metropolitan Municipality. Muhtar Adanalı continued his speech as follows:

“We are on the side of the Ankara road. We have made requests to our Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç to rearrange and beautify our eggplant sales points here, for the entrance and exit of our Kayseri to be beautiful. He has done a great job. These places you see were idle. He filled them beautifully. Asphalt will be laid, and it will be set up as a single shop and distributed to the people of Yemliha. On behalf of the people of Yemliha and myself, I express my gratitude to him. May God bless you, Mr. Mayor. May your work be successful. Whenever we called Mayor Büyükkılıç, he answered our phone, and we have been in touch whenever we wanted. Therefore, I also consider it a debt of gratitude to thank him again.”

Citizens expressed their satisfaction with the services that protected the agricultural value of Yamula Eggplant, supported the producers, and ensured travel safety on the intercity highway, thanking Mayor Büyükkılıç. During the inspection visit, Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç was accompanied by the Deputy Secretaries General of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, Ali Hasdal and Mustafa Türkmen, department heads, muhtars, and residents.
