Aydın Mumcu, a 75-year-old resident of Trabzon, has been searching everywhere for his lost budgerigar for two months. He taught the budgerigar many words, including ‘Champion Trabzon’, when he bought it at the age of one month five years ago, and he said that they felt as if a funeral had come out of the house with the bird’s disappearance.

Mumcu, who posted the missing bird notice everywhere in the local neighborhood, including at the window of his workplace, stated that although their hopes of finding it diminish every passing day, they still carry the hope that it will return.

Mumcu expressed that in the two months that have passed, only one person has contacted them, but they did not obtain a positive result from that person. He stated that he would reward anyone who finds the budgerigar. He added, “We hope it will return one day. It came to me from Hopa five years ago when it was one month old. We raised it and taught it around 150 words. For example, it would say ‘Champion Trabzon’ and ‘I have a headache, take me to the doctor.’ I would say, ‘Son, come, let me feed you,’ and it would immediately come and sit on my shoulder. It had a white female friend in our pantry, and they played together. I went home, it was eating in its cage, I went downstairs, and when I went upstairs to perform ablution, I saw that it was not in the cage. I thought they were playing together in the pantry, but when I came home in the evening, it was still gone. If it hasn’t been eaten by cats, it is probably in someone’s house. It has been missing for about two months, and during this time only one person has called us. It could only fly about 20-30 meters at most. Once, it went to the balcony of the house across from us, and I said ‘come son,’ and it came. I am thinking of rewarding whoever finds and brings it back, as long as they bring it to me. My daughter is a professor at the university and she raised it very well. When it got lost, it felt as if a funeral had come out from our house, my daughter and my wife cried a lot. My daughter didn’t speak to me for a month. Our hope has faded, but we still have a little hope inside us. We posted the missing notice in the area, and I would be very happy if it is found. I will reward the one who finds it,” he said.

On the other hand, the brochure containing the photo of the lost bird includes the statement, “Those who see or hear are kindly requested to contact 532 785 5992.”
