Erciyes University (ERÜ) organized a graduation ceremony for postgraduate students graduating from the institutes for the first time this year.
The ceremony, held at the Erciyes Cultural Center, awarded diplomas to doctoral and master’s students who completed their education at the Institute of Atatürk Principles and Revolution History, Institute of Educational Sciences, Institute of Science, Gevher Nesibe Genome and Stem Cell Institute, Institute of Fine Arts, Institute of Health Sciences, and Institute of Social Sciences. The ceremony was attended by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, Higher Education Council Member and ERÜ Faculty of Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Derviş Karaboğa, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan and Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Poyrazoğlu, General Secretary Prof. Dr. İbrahim Narin, Deputy General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afşın Alper Cerit and Zafer Çağlıtalaslıgil, Incisu OSB Board Chairman İrfan Püsküllü, faculty deans, institute directors, academics, and graduating students. After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem accompanied by the Metropolitan Municipality Band, a mini ney concert was held first at the ceremony. In his opening speech, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç emphasized that they always value research as a municipality and stated that Kayseri municipalities have the characteristic of doing beautiful things in solidarity. Stating that Kayseri is a city of unity, togetherness, and peace, Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç congratulated the graduating students. Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun also highlighted the importance of postgraduate education in his speech, saying, ‘Dear graduates, obtaining a master’s and doctorate is a different pride. It is not something everyone gets. Therefore, value it. Please continue to exist in R&D processes. Our universities need researchers like you. May your path and fortune always be open.’ Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, in his speech, stated, ‘Erciyes University is our pride. They always make us proud with their work. Our duty is to always support our university.’ The heads of the institutes, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Altuncuoğlu from the Institute of Atatürk Principles and Revolution History, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Arak from the Institute of Educational Sciences, Prof. Dr. Emel Kızılkaya Aydoğan from the Institute of Science, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Özkul from the Gevher Nesibe Genome and Stem Cell Institute, Dr. Levent Çoruh from the Institute of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Bilal Akyüz from the Institute of Health Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Atabey Kılıç from the Institute of Social Sciences, also made speeches congratulating the graduates. After the speeches, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun presented a graduation scarf to Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç and Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu as a remembrance of the day.
The ceremony concluded after the diplomas were awarded to students who completed their education in the doctoral and master’s programs and the cutting of the graduation cake.
