Turkish architect wins award from Europe
İçim Atlı, a graduate of the Architecture Department of Yaşar University living in Portugal, won the Honorable Mention Award at the International Europan 17 Competition, where thematic architecture, urban planning, and landscape projects competed, with the project named ‘Torrevegacy’ along with her team.

Yaşar University Architecture Department graduate İçim Atlı, living in Portugal, won the Special Mention Award with the project named ‘Torrevegacy’ at the International Europan 17 Competition where thematic architecture, urbanism, and landscape projects competed. İçim Atlı, a graduate of Yaşar University Architecture Department living in Portugal, achieved a new success. Atlı, along with her team, was awarded the Special Mention Award at the International Europan 17 Competition held in Torrelavega, Spain, with the project named ‘Torrevegacy’. The team included İçim Atlı, Wladimir Pulupa, Jons Gmez, and Rodrigo Zamora Castejn. The project aims to integrate nature into the urban fabric by prioritizing the preservation and development of the city’s natural environment. It focuses on creating a lively space for gathering and communication, eliminating previous barriers, and forming a public green area that will serve as a strong structure for reconnecting within the city. The Torrevegacy project will create a space in Torrelavega that embraces both nature and human activities, enriching the lives of all citizens with a welcoming and sustainable environment, and aims to strengthen the connections between the city and the surrounding areas. The design includes a special bicycle path in addition to pedestrian crossings to facilitate transportation to various parts of the city and increase sustainability. The project also plans new designs for the historic Talleres Obregón building, incorporating disciplines such as big data, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Additive Manufacturing.
