Merkezefendi Municipality completed the restoration of the 158-year-old Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi Mansion in efforts to preserve the historical and cultural heritage, and the opening ceremony was held. This valuable 158-year-old structure was restored through a meticulous restoration process to regain its former glory. During the restoration process, the original details were preserved, and the building was adapted to modern life without causing any harm. The opening ceremony of the mansion was attended by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan, vice mayors, council members, unit directors, muhtars, and citizens.

‘Traces of the past are carried to the future’
Emphasizing the importance of the restoration, Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan stated that a significant step was taken in passing the mansion to future generations, ‘We said that we would protect our history, cultural heritage, and values when we set out on this path. Today, we are all proud of this. The mansion, built by Ünerris Hasan Efendi, the father of Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi, in 1865, has a 158-year history in Denizli. I thank all family members for entrusting us with this mansion. We took over the mansion in 2022. Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi Mansion is not just a building; it is also a reflection of our past, traditions, and culture. We worked meticulously to pass on this valuable heritage to future generations and restored the mansion in its original form. We are delighted to put into service our 158-year-old historical heritage, Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi Mansion, one of the oldest mansions in Denizli, which we acquired under our municipality and completed the restoration works. May it be auspicious for our district and city.’

Salih Erden, thanking Mayor Doğan and her team for bringing the mansion to Merkezefendi, said, ‘Believe me, many people could not have achieved this beauty. I thank Mayor Doğan and her team separately for bringing this work to our city. As Mustafa Kemal Atatürk also said, there is a need for leaders who will keep a society from straying away from its history by keeping historical artifacts alive.’

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, congratulating those involved in the acquisition of the cultural heritage of the 158-year-old mansion, stated, ‘Hopefully, our youth and children will come and pay tribute to their ancestors by visiting this mansion. Preserving history and the texture of cities is among the most important responsibilities of us, managers, not only for profit and profiteers, but truly leaving a legacy for the future.’

After the speeches at the ceremony, the restored 158-year-old historical mansion was opened to visits by protocol members.
