The harvest of the lavender garden in the Durhasan neighborhood of Izmit Municipality was carried out with the participation of special needs children and their families. The event was attended by the Director of Social Support Services, Yasemin Gözkonan Kahveci, the Director of Rural Services, İsmet Kuntaş, as well as individuals with special needs receiving education at the Life Support House, Autism Sports and Life House, and Short Break Center, along with their families. During this meaningful event, special needs children and their families enjoyed the pleasure of lavender harvesting and had the opportunity to spend a day close to nature. Participants experienced joyful moments in the lavender field, enjoying the beautiful weather and nature. Families expressed their gratitude for the event, which contributes to the increased social participation and morale of individuals with special needs. The Director of Rural Services, İsmet Kuntaş, stated, ‘We wanted to organize our harvest event with our special needs children in our lavender garden this year. The lavenders harvested from this garden are prepared as souvenirs and lavender oil under the leadership of the Directorate of Women and Family Services. In addition, citizens can also pick lavender during the harvest events. We will continue to connect our citizens with nature and village life.’ The Director of Social Support Services, Yasemin Gözkonan Kahveci, said, ‘Today, we are here with our special needs individuals and their families who receive education at the Life Support House, Autism Sports and Life House, and Short Break Center. It is truly a beautiful garden. Our children and families are very happy. We are also very pleased to be involved in such a valuable work with our Directorate of Rural Services.’
