Ankara Mayor Yavaş met with athletes who will participate in the Olympics.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş met with ABB ASKİ Sports athletes who will compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games. The meeting was attended by 11 athletes who will compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games, Ankara ABB ASKİ Sports Club President Yüksel Arslan, coaching staff, and national wrestler Rıza Kayaalp alongside Mayor Yavaş. Mayor Yavaş expressed that they will support the athletes participating in the Olympics and Paralympic Games and wished them success individually. Mansur Yavaş stated, ‘Many athletes like Tahalar and Rızalar will emerge.’ Mansur Yavaş expressed his belief that wrestlers, especially Taha Akgül, and other wrestlers participating in the Olympics will return from Paris with success, ‘We currently have nearly 30 thousand athletes, and hopefully, in the future, many athletes like Tahalar and Rızalar will emerge from among them. They are working with role models like Taha, Rıza, and other wrestlers. Many athletes will emerge. We attach great importance both to our ancestral sport and to representing our country. In the past, only gold medals were expected from wrestling competitions at the Olympics, there was not much hope from other branches. Now, as a country, we have quite a strong presence in other branches as well. Hopefully, it is our duty to expect our athletes to succeed there, represent their country, and proudly sing the National Anthem there. I wish them success. Their morale is quite good. Unfortunately, Rıza had some bad luck due to an ear infection; hopefully, our friend Hamza who replaced him will also perform well.’ Rıza Kayaalp stated, ‘I used a medication called Vastarel after consulting my doctor.’ National wrestler Rıza Kayaalp, who was found to have used a ‘substance that provides extra energy to the body’ in the medication he used due to tinnitus, mentioned that he had undergone doping tests hundreds of times in his 25-year wrestling career and said, ‘I have never had any problems so far, thank God. Just because of a ringing in my ear, especially for the last two years, the ringing that increased due to Olympic stress, also caused dizziness during training. I used a medication called Vastarel after consulting my doctor. Everyone knows that I have never used anything without asking throughout my life. I have never used any medication without knowing it in my life. I used it by asking my doctor as well.’ Rıza Kayaalp, who said that he did not know that there was such a substance in the medication called Vastarel, said, ‘After using it for a while, I stopped it due to its side effects, I thought of using it after the Olympics because it gave me more headaches. They came to take a sample a week later. When the results were announced a month later, I was shocked. I can’t get over the shock because I never expected it. I have always been careful throughout my life, always afraid of this situation, and it happened to me. Thank God, I am very comfortable conscience-wise.’
