Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat, who attended the ‘July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day’ program held in Aydın, said, ‘On the 8th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt that took place on July 15, 2016, we are once again experiencing the pride of the determination shown by the heroic Turkish nation, who did not allow the suppression of the will of the people to turn into a victory for democracy.’ In the events organized by the Aydın Governorate, the martyrs who fell heroically on the 8th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt were commemorated. Governor Yakup Canbolat, protocol members, and citizens started the program with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. After the recitation of the Quran, Governor Yakup Canbolat made a speech highlighting the significance of the day. Governor Canbolat stated, ‘On the 8th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt that aimed to fragment our country’s survival, the indivisible unity of our state, and our national unity and solidarity, we once again experience the pride of the determination shown by the heroic Turkish nation, who did not allow the suppression of the will of the people. I commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the coup attempt on the night of July 15, and express my gratitude and respect to our veterans. As we all know, the heroic Turkish nation has never hesitated to pay any price for the flag, the indivisible integrity and independence of the homeland. It has known how to stand united against any threat. Even when the Ottoman Empire was besieged from all sides during the World War, the heroic sons of the nation protected their homeland. The Turkish nation, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923, established a new state with the noble blood of martyrs, dispersing all dark clouds and showing the enemy that this country is invincible. These lands, which have witnessed many epics throughout history, experienced another one on the night of July 15. Fortunately, our nation, like in the past, has once again rendered the evil intentions of malicious centers futile today. The resistance movement shown by our people against the coup attempt of the FETÖ terrorist organization should be seen as an independence struggle for the unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation. Our heroic nation, united with women, men, youth, and the elderly against the traitors, filled the streets and squares that night, and stood up against tanks, artillery, planes, and helicopters with only their faith and belief, at the cost of their lives, and protected democracy by not leaving the squares empty for days.’ Following Governor Canbolat’s speech, the program continued with various activities and will conclude with symbolic vigils accompanied by July 15 videos throughout the night.
