July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day was celebrated in Uşak with various events. The program started with the National Unity March at 19:30 in the evening, followed by an event held at the July 15 Martyrs Square. Uşak Governor Dr. Turan Ergün, AK Party Uşak Deputies Ismail Güneş and Fahrettin Tuğrul, Provincial Police Chief Mehmet Ali Kolcu, Senior Colonel Fahri Semiz, protocol members, the family of July 15 Martyr Mehmet Çetin, and citizens attended the event. The event began with a minute of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the recitation of the Quran for the martyrs. After the prayers, Governor Dr. Turan Ergün took the stage and delivered a speech. Emphasizing national unity, Ergün stated, ‘Just like this nation rushed to the squares 8 years ago, today, we are commemorating and reminding 15 July in Uşak’s squares and all the squares of Turkey to remember, remind, learn from the past to avoid experiencing the same pain in the future. We both remember and do not forget. I commemorate once again with mercy and gratitude all our martyrs, from the commander of the War of Independence, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to all the martyrs of our Independence War, to all the martyrs of this nation throughout history, and to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives on July 15, and of course, our dear martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism both domestically and abroad after establishing this country. Through this, I once again offer my condolences to our fellow countryman Mehmet Çetin from Uşak.’ The event continued with a play performed by Uşak Municipality City Theater, a concert by Uşak Municipality City Orchestra, the screening of the July 15 Documentary, and various activities. At 00:13, simultaneous prayers were recited in all the mosques in the city. The program concluded with the recitation of the Quran and prayers. Additionally, groups of 50 people took turns standing guard for democracy until the morning prayer in the city.
