A commemoration program was held in Esenler on the 8th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt on July 15th.

The 8th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt of July 15 was commemorated in the district of Esenler. Esenler, one of the districts that suffered the most casualties in the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, 2016, held a commemoration ceremony on the 8th anniversary of the coup attempt with the recitation of the Quran and a video presentation prepared for the martyrs, in the presence of the Mayor Tevfik Göksu.
On the 8th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, Esenler Municipality organized a program to commemorate the martyrs and heroes of July 15 at Dörtyol Square with the slogan ‘We meet in Dörtyol for the Sake of the Homeland, for the Love of the Nation.’ Mayor Tevfik Göksu, emphasizing that Esenler was one of the districts that suffered the most casualties on the treacherous coup night, stated, ‘If stones are to speak, if they are to express themselves, the stones and trees in every particle of this square will express themselves and bear witness to very beautiful things.’ The martyrs of Esenler were commemorated in the program with the recitation of the Quran, heroic songs, and video presentations.
Speaking at the program, Mayor Tevfik Göksu of Esenler said, ‘You have turned this square into a nightmare for FETÖ.’ Mentioning that Esenler was one of the districts that suffered the most casualties during the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, Mayor Tevfik Göksu stated, ‘We are at the forefront of the districts that suffered the most casualties on July 15. Since the night of July 15, the beautiful people of Esenler who have been on duty here without fail, know that your duty is not only about guarding the 4-way square. This duty you perform is on sacred lands. You have turned this square into a nightmare for FETÖ, just like the lackeys of FETÖ, not by running away but by standing tall against the tanks and guns, even if martyrdom awaits at the end.’
‘July 15 was a date when those traitors were cleansed from these lands.’ Mentioning that during the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, it was shown to the world that a country’s state and nation could unite, Göksu said, ‘May Allah not make us experience another July 15. We showed the whole world on July 15 how a nation and its state can achieve great things when they walk in the same direction. That day, we taught the entire world leadership. They made false claims. They said the president is fleeing. That day, with the fearless language of our president, without trembling, without hesitation, calling on the people to come to the squares even if tanks and cannons come, we saw how a nation took to the streets with what enthusiasm. And thankfully, July 15 became a date when those traitors were cleansed from these lands.’
‘We will not allow this country and this nation to be oppressed at any cost.’ Following the commemoration program of the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu, speaking to Ihlas News Agency, said, ‘It is the 8th anniversary of July 15. And truly, in its 8th year, this square witnessed great things. We are showing once again that we know the value of this nation and this land, and that we will not allow anyone to oppress this country and this nation at any cost. Esenler, as you know, is one of the districts that suffered the most casualties on July 15. We remember our martyrs and veterans with mercy. We continue our duty. The crowd in the square is a testament to this. I thank all the citizens who participated in the duty. I wish mercy for our martyrs and health for our veterans.’
