15 July commemoration events in Ardahan

Activities were organized in Ardahan on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. On the 8th anniversary of the July 15 Treacherous Coup Attempt, a program titled ‘Commemoration of July 15 Martyrs, Democracy and National Unity Day’ was held in Ardahan with various events. The ceremony at the National Sovereignty Square began with a moment of silence and the national anthem. Following the recitation of the Quran, prayers were held for the Martyrs during the program. Afterwards, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s address to the public was broadcast live to the participants, and then the start of the 15 July Martyrs’ Flag Run was given by Ardahan Governor Hayrettin Çiçek. Speaking about the significance of the day, Governor Hayrettin Çiçek expressed that the Turkish Nation wrote an epic on the night of July 15, stating: ‘Unfortunately, the evil forces were trying to drag our country into darkness and make it a colony of Western powers. However, there were some calculations they did not consider. That was; they did not calculate how much the Turkish nation is in love with independence, how devoted it is to independence, how it will preserve its homeland, religion, and flag in the future. Of course, they did not calculate one more thing, even though the coup attempt was tried to be carried out by some traitors within the Turkish armed forces, the police force, and the gendarmerie, they could not succeed with the hero soldiers of this country, hero police officers, hero gendarmerie, and most importantly, the hero Turkish nation’s will.’ The event was attended by the 25th Border Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mehmet Cihanoğlu, Ardahan Mayor Faruk Demir, MHP Central Executive Board Member Taşkın Özdemir, MHP Provincial Chairman Turgay Mert, AK Party Provincial Chairman Ersin Yılmaz, Ardahan Chief Public Prosecutor Mehmet Karabulut, Provincial Police Chief Gökalp Şener, other officials, martyr families, veterans, and citizens.
