The registered ‘Akıncılar melon’ specific to the district of Akıncılar in Sivas gave a unique taste to Turkish coffee. The mass production of melon-flavored coffee has begun. Grown in the district of Akıncılar in Sivas, the Akıncılar melon, which impresses with its taste and aroma, has been blended with Turkish coffee. The production of melon-flavored Turkish coffee, initiated by Akıncılar Mayor Murat Sevin, has started on a large scale. Mayor Sevin expressed that they will soon obtain the patent and offer it to the public, stating, ‘We made coffee from the essence of our melon. We serve it to our guests, and everyone loves it. It truly has an excellent taste.’
Our melon is our brand. President Sevin, who wants to introduce the Akıncılar melon in Turkey, said, ‘Our melon has been our brand for years. We call it the Manisa melon, but we have turned it into a product specific to Akıncılar. Our melon is truly famous for both its size and taste. We have been introducing our melon to everyone for 25 years at our traditional Melon Festival. But we want to promote Akıncılar’s melon in Turkey and worldwide. Along with our melon, we have now made coffee from the essence of our melon. We now have a special melon-flavored coffee for Akıncılar. Hopefully, we will obtain the patent soon and offer it to our people. We serve it to our guests at the municipality and our social facility. The public is happy, everyone is happy. Its taste is truly excellent.’
‘Melon has become famous.’ Sevin, stating that the melon has become famous in Akıncılar, said, ‘We want everyone to taste this melon. We have a very delicious melon in our district due to the taste provided by the soil. We grow it naturally, organically. We do not use any fertilizers, only animal manure. We expect an approximate yield of about 5 thousand tons of melon. There are various types of coffee in Turkey. Like mortar coffee, terebinth coffee, etc. We thought, why not melon. We tried it and started mass production. The public will also receive gifts like this. Hopefully, we will also brand this. We will make it beautiful for our district. Of course, we also have a melon festival in the coming days. On August 23-24-25. From here, we invite all of Turkey to our district.’
