DENIZLI (IHA) – The delegation from the brother country Azerbaijan, invited by the Mayor of Cameli, Cengiz Arslan, visited Turkey and learned about Turkish culture while exploring the natural beauties of Denizli and the region.

Aqşin Bağırov, the Director of the Mubariz Ibrahimov Educational Complex from Azerbaijan, along with teachers and students, enjoyed their time at the Cameli Stone Mansions in the first part of their program. Following this, the delegation, accompanied by the Cameli National Education Director Murat Uzun, visited Elmali Neighborhood where they tasted local delicacies such as trout, tray pastry, yoghurt dish, arabasi, and wheat dish. The delegation also visited the Cameli Kilim and Elmali Fabric Weaving Workshop, where they were guided by the President of the Cameli Elmali Women’s Cooperative, Firdevs Eris, Vice President Nezahat Dikilitas, and Elmali Neighborhood Headman Fatih Maden, and learned about the handmade products, including kilim weaving.

The delegation from Azerbaijan, including teachers and students, attended a traditional engagement ceremony in Cameli with Mayor Cengiz Arslan, sharing the joy of the couple taking their first steps towards marriage. Impressed by the Turkish customs and traditions they observed, the Azerbaijani delegation was fascinated by the folk songs of Cameli. Mayor Arslan stated that it was an honor to promote the local folk song ‘Masit Kiriklari’ to the world.

The Azerbaijani delegation visited Salda Lake in Yesilova district of Burdur, known as the Maldives of Turkey. They were amazed by the unique view and clear water of Salda Lake, capturing memories with souvenir photographs.

The next stop of the delegation of teachers and students from Azerbaijan was the town of Yesilyuva in the Acipayam district. Here, they examined the handmade shoes and visited the famous chickpea bazaar of Serinhisar. The guest delegation was enchanted by the natural beauty and legendary story of the Keloglan Cave in Dodurga village of Acipayam district. They expressed their gratitude to Mayor Cengiz Arslan of Cameli for providing them with this opportunity.
