In order to accelerate the restoration efforts of the registered structures in Malatya, upon the instructions of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, a liaison office has been established by the Sivas Conservation Board. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which has been exerting intensive efforts to restore the registered civilian architectural structures damaged in the earthquakes of February 6, 2023 in Malatya, has established a liaison office within the Malatya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, affiliated with the Sivas Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. Malatya Museum Director Murat Ata reminded that many civilian architectural structures were damaged in the earthquakes, stating, ‘In matters falling within the jurisdiction of our Ministry during the earthquakes, necessary work was immediately initiated upon the instructions of our Minister, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. For this purpose, it was decided to provide project and implementation support to civilian architectural structures without delay. Subsequently, citizens whose civilian architectural structures were damaged in the earthquake applied. As a result of the evaluation of the applications made from our province, implementation support was provided to 3 structures and project support to 138 structures. Our efforts to restore the structures are still ongoing.’ Ata emphasized that, due to the organizational structure, applications in Malatya are evaluated by the Sivas Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, aiming to provide first-hand information to citizens about the condition of civilian architectural structures, guide them on the necessary steps to be followed in case of deficiencies in the works, ensure faster processing of procedures, and provide information on the road and methods to be applied in case of structures within civilian architectural structures that need to be demolished. He noted that a Liaison Office affiliated with the Sivas Board was established within the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism.
