The Genç Atölyesi (Youth Workshop) of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality continued with a high participation rate with a cinema class by the writer Enver Gülşen at the Office Art Center. In this class, young people discussed cinema along with moral and belief values. Writer Gülşen stated, ‘Cinema, with its capacity to somehow concretize abstract time, sculpts time.’ The 6th edition of the Genç Atölye organized by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality this year receives great interest from the young people of Sakarya, and the training sessions on various topics continue with different activities. This week’s lesson at the workshop was about cinema. Enver Gülşen, a well-known cinema writer in Turkey with his writings, gave a lecture to the youth at the Office Art Center (OSM) in the city center. In the cinema class, the writer and the young people discussed moral and belief values along with cinema. In the ongoing lesson on important issues of world cinema, problems, and films that will make the audience contemplate, writer Gülşen provided information to the youth about the writing processes of film contents. Excerpts from series and films were watched in the class, and the perceptions created by the contents were examined. The young participants discussed the impact of characters and stories on the audience. Gülşen stated, ‘Cinema is no different from the truth of all other arts. Human is a fallen being, but contains all the possibilities to rise. That is why the whole purpose of art is an effort to lean a ladder against a ladder, as Hz. Mevlânâ said. The search for truth begins right here. Both the truth of cinema and all arts, the truth of science. Cinema sculpts time, which is abstract, into something concrete.’ The Genç Atölye will continue its classes with various interesting topics in different locations and points.
