Mavi Bayrak to 17 beaches of Metropolitan City

17 public beaches under the responsibility of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality have been awarded the Blue Flag. Blue Flags were raised at Sarısu Public Beach and Sarısu Women’s Beach. Antalya, the tourism capital of Turkey, maintained its title as the province with the most Blue Flags in Turkey this year as well. Under the coordination of the International Foundation for Environmental Education, within the scope of the Blue Flag project carried out by the Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education (TURÇEV), 17 public beaches under the responsibility of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality were awarded the Blue Flag this year. The Metropolitan Municipality, which waves the Blue Flag at 17 different beaches confirming the cleanliness of the sea water, the importance given to environmental management, the hygiene, and safety of the beaches internationally, meets every need from showers to dressing cabins at all beaches.
The Blue Flag was raised on the mast. Sarısu Public Beach and Sarısu Women’s Beach, operated by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality’s ANET A.Ş, also earned the 2024 International Blue Flag award and certificate. Nuri Cengiz, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANET A.Ş, raised the flag on the mast together with the officials of the Metropolitan Municipality’s Sea and Coast Management Branch.
Stating that Antalya is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and that they work to preserve this beauty, Nuri Cengiz said, ‘We raised the Blue Flags that carry international standards at our beaches this year as well. We are experiencing the joy of this. The Blue Flag is a quality certificate that guarantees healthy swimming water, a safe beach environment, services for the disabled, and equipment for users. Sarısu Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Antalya and has earned this award with the facilities provided by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.’
‘Sarısu belongs to the people of Antalya.’ Referring to the recent developments in the Sarısu Recreation Area, ANET A.Ş President Nuri Cengiz said: ‘Sarısu belongs to the people of Antalya and it should remain that way. The Blue Flag earned indicates that as the Metropolitan Municipality, we aim for an international standard in terms of the cleanliness of the coasts of this beach, and providing visitors in picnic areas with more suitable and comfortable environments. Our beaches, seas, nature, and environment should be preserved with a sustainable approach, ensuring that they remain for the use of the public beyond a commercial logic. Beaches belong to the public and should remain for the public. Despite all the difficulties, we will continue to work to ensure that Sarısu Beach remains for the use of the public and to maintain a social municipal understanding that will ensure this.’
