AK Party Canakkale Provincial Chairman Naim Makas made a statement on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Makas stated, ‘This noble nation, who sacrificed their lives to protect democracy, demonstrated a resistance that will set an example for future generations. The great Turkish nation, with the belief, courage, and faith to always eliminate all attacks and coups against itself, will continue to progress towards free, independent, and bright tomorrows as it did on July 15.’ AK Party Canakkale Provincial Chairman Naim Makas issued a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Chairman Makas expressed the following in his message: ‘Eight years have passed since the treacherous coup attempt that targeted the unity and solidarity of our noble nation, national will, and the Republic of Turkey. On July 15, 2016, our country faced a treacherous coup attempt against democracy and national will. However, thanks to the determination of our nation, the resoluteness, and the upright stance of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, this dark plan was thwarted. That night, our nation, united as one with women, men, young, and old, stood against tanks, cannons, planes, and helicopters with their faith and belief. This noble nation, who sacrificed their lives to protect democracy, demonstrated a resistance that will set an example for future generations. The great Turkish nation, with the belief, courage, and faith to always eliminate all attacks and coups against itself, will continue to progress towards free, independent, and bright tomorrows. On the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, I commemorate with mercy and gratitude the 251 heroes who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for our independence and democracy, and I express my gratitude to our veterans.’
