Muratpaşa Belediyespor’s 15-year-old gymnast, İrem Sırcan, successfully completed the national team selection held in Istanbul. Sırcan has been selected for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Group squad.

İrem Sırcan, who started gymnastics at the age of 5, won her first medal at the age of 7 in the Turkish Minors League competition. Sırcan transferred to Muratpaşa Belediyespor in 2019 and in 2021, she passed the Turkey Olympic Preparation Center (TOHM) threshold, becoming Antalya’s first Rhythmic Gymnastics TOHM athlete. Competing on behalf of the club in Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubai, and domestically, Sırcan achieved rankings. This year, she became the champion at the Antalya inter-school gymnastics competition and finished fourth at the Turkish Championship. She experienced the excitement of lifting the first-place cup with her team at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Bosphorus Cup organized by the Turkish Gymnastics Federation, which was attended by 153 athletes from 13 countries.

Successfully passed the national team selection

By successfully completing the large group national team selection held in Istanbul in June, Sırcan, who was selected for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Group squad, said she continues her training at a high pace. Sharing the joy of joining the national team, Sırcan said, ‘I am moving to Istanbul soon. It is very gratifying, I am very happy.’

Sırcan, who stated that she worked with very successful coaches during this process, continued her words as follows:

‘I have been at Muratpaşa Belediyespor Club for 6 years. Our coaches are very good, all of them are very successful athletes. They had a great influence. They were all supportive and coached very well. Their contribution was huge. It all happened with my own hard work and their support.’
