Minister Institution: ‘We have no savings in earthquake zones’

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum emphasized that there are no savings measures in earthquake zones during a coordination meeting with wide participation held at the Adıyaman Governorship. Minister Kurum stated in the meeting, which was attended by Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol, Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, members of parliament, representatives of NGOs, institution directors, and many others, that they hold Adıyaman close to their eyes and hearts, and do everything to uplift Adıyaman.

Minister Murat Kurum said, ‘The earthquake zone is our most important agenda item. And at this point, until the work is completed and Adıyaman smiles, we will continue this fight with our team members and the people of Adıyaman. We promised to continue this struggle hand in hand with the people of Adıyaman until Adıyaman is rebuilt. As soon as we took office, we visited Malatya, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and today we are in Adıyaman to examine the work done on site. Our only agenda will be to rebuild the earthquake zone. We do not have a second to lose. Under the leadership of our President, who has kept his promises for 22 years, we are a team that fulfills its promises. With the support of our dear people and by the permission of Allah, we will continue to keep these promises with the support of Adıyaman. Our promises will not be in vain. Therefore, we look at the future of our region with a non-partisan understanding and do not differentiate or will not differentiate any of our provinces or districts from each other in order to heal the wounds of the earthquake and meet the needs of the city.

We will address the needs of 14 million citizens here, along with all local dynamics, focusing on the urgent needs of the city. Currently, the largest housing transformation and earthquake transformation of the 21st century is taking place. Just looking at Adıyaman today, we are building a place in the İndere region where almost 20 thousand independent sections will be lived by around 60-70 thousand citizens. By the end of 2025, hopefully, no one will be left without a home in Adıyaman in any earthquake. We always hold Adıyaman dear to us, we love it; our brothers in Adıyaman have always been our comrades and companions on the road. We are honored to serve Adıyaman. Whatever Adıyaman asks for, whatever it needs, under the leadership of our President, we will meet these needs one by one. We do not have any designs in the earthquake zone; we will quickly carry out whatever is needed. With the power of our state and the support and prayers of our nation, we are quickly rebuilding our earthquake zone, our Adıyaman.’

Minister Kurum also provided information about the square project planned to be carried out in Adıyaman. The meeting continued afterwards behind closed doors.
