Former Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu stated that the news about the Social Democrat People’s Party (SHP) is false.
Visiting CHP Pınarbaşı Municipality Council Candidate Şerafettin Bahadır, who was injured in an attack after the June 2 elections, at Kayseri City Hospital where he is receiving treatment, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a statement upon leaving the hospital. Kılıçdaroğlu, emphasizing that there should be no violence in politics, said, ‘I have always seen politics as a field of competition in kindness. That has always been my belief, and I have always tried to act accordingly. There should be no violence in politics. It should be normal to celebrate the victory of a mayor, followed by joyous demonstrations. However, violence, even a level of violence that could lead to someone’s death, is never acceptable. I visited Mr. Şerafettin. Thanks to the doctors and all the staff, they have shown the necessary care. He is in good condition, he will stay in bed a little longer, but it is our greatest comfort that he is in good condition. If he had lost his life, it would have been a great tragedy. Like a loss of reason. Applying violence to a person, magnifying the level of violence that could lead to their death is never right. Therefore, I sincerely thank the chief physician of the hospital, the staff, everyone.’
‘Internal conflicts strike a blow to Turkey’s reputation and respect’
Kılıçdaroğlu, also commented on the events in Kayseri, stating, ‘The fact that Syrians come intensively to Turkey has bothered me the most. During my term as the party leader, I promised that I would send all our Syrian brothers back to their own country within 2 years, but I said that while sending Syrians back to their own country, I would do so while preserving Turkey’s reputation and respecting human dignity. Causing internal conflicts here, applying violence against Syrians strikes a blow to Turkey’s reputation and respect. From this perspective, I do not find it right. On the contrary, our greatest desire is for Syrians to be sent back to their own country with consistent policies that the government will pursue.’
Kılıçdaroğlu, when asked if he supported the Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), replied, ‘No, my friends. These are all false news. There is no such thing.’
