According to the regulation prepared by the Ministry of National Education, in the driving training course exams, driver candidates who fail in the parking maneuver will be given a second chance. The Regulation Amending the Regulation on Private Motor Vehicle Drivers’ Courses was published in the Official Gazette. Some of these changes will come into effect 6 months later. Advanced Driving Techniques Expert Mehmet Şimşek, who evaluated the new regulation, said they were pleased with the changes made in the Regulation on Private Motor Vehicle Drivers’ Courses. Şimşek stated that significant changes were made in the driving exams, exam hours, and driving courses with the new regulation. Şimşek expressed that the regulation pleased both the driving courses and the candidates, especially by allowing candidates to repeat the same maneuver if they fail to park between cones in one go during the reverse parking practice. He said, ‘It became easier for the candidate to park without getting nervous.’ Mentioning that the “U-turn” maneuver could also be added in motorcycle and car usage training in driving exams, Şimşek stated that the exam route was extended and the “U-turn” application was introduced. He emphasized that the application exam time will be extended from 35 minutes to 40 minutes. He also mentioned that the regulation changes will come into effect in 6 months. Emphasizing the importance of traffic rules and etiquette, Şimşek stated that after the recent regulation change, there has been around a 30% decrease in traffic accidents, and with the new regulation, accidents will decrease even more. He underlined the importance of teaching traffic rules and etiquette to candidates before making them drivers. He mentioned that becoming a driver is not easy and requires adherence to traffic rules and etiquette. The Ministry of National Education officials may change the exam route in driving exams to prevent traffic congestion during peak hours. They also expressed the need for the implementation of the regulation changes as soon as possible.
