We are solving this problem, we are not just talking but also taking action since the earthquake.’
AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygılı, who made a statement on his social media account, said, ‘Another good news for Izmir. Izmir was selected as the pilot province with a budget of 330 million 500 thousand Euros within the scope of the ‘Resilient Cities to Climate and Disasters’ project by our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the World Bank protocol. We promised in the elections. Now we are implementing it.’
Expressing his reaction to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s ‘Halk Konut’ project, Chairman Saygılı stated that the problem regarding the project will be resolved, and continued as follows: ‘We took the first step with the Halk Konut 5 Building Cooperative, out of the nearly 40 Halk Konut Cooperatives established by the previous Izmir Metropolitan Municipality administration under the name of ‘urban transformation’ with great promises and displays but could not progress, and earthquake victims were victimized. Thus, through the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, we are ending the period where the construction process was blocked by the previous Izmir Metropolitan Municipality administration, and earthquake victims could not reach their homes. We provide the right holders with a 180-month payment opportunity with a financing opportunity of 0.69 up to a maximum limit of 2.5 million TL to ensure that urban transformation activities progress in a qualified and fast manner. In addition, we provide an annual 0.25% financing discount to citizens with medium and low incomes who do not have a registered house, martyrs’ families, veterans, retirees, and disabled siblings. Other public housing projects are next in line. Since the earthquake, we have been putting bricks on top of bricks, not just words on top of words. We do not exacerbate Izmir’s problems; we solve them with sincerity and determination. With the support of our Ministry, Izmir will acquire a safe and disaster-resilient city identity. We thank our Minister, Mr. Murat Kurum, who enabled us to give this good news to Izmir and Izmir residents with his valuable efforts and endeavors.’
