DÜZCE (İHA) – It has been announced that the cause of the pollution seen in the sea in the district of Akçakoca in Düzce a month ago is not mucilage, according to the analysis report. Last month, foam seen in the sea in the district of Akçakoca in Düzce is being investigated by the Düzce Governorship, and it has been stated that it is not mucilage according to the analysis report.

DÜZCE (İHA) – It was announced that the cause of the pollution seen in the sea in the district of Akçakoca in Düzce a month ago was not mucilage, according to the analysis report. Düzce Governorship conducted a comprehensive investigation regarding the foams seen in the sea in the district of Akçakoca last month. An investigation regarding the pollution was carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Bolu Food Control Laboratory Directorate, TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, and the Public Health Laboratory affiliated with Düzce Provincial Health Directorate. In the statement made by Düzce Governorship regarding the issue, it was stated that ‘On June 17, 2024, Düzce Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Düzce Provincial Health Directorate, and Düzce Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate teams conducted on-site inspections in our Akçakoca district in the Black Sea due to news and allegations in the national, local news channels, and some social media platforms about mucilage-like formations. In the initial examinations, it was evaluated by our teams of experts that there was no mucilage as alleged, and in order to eliminate all doubts, water samples were taken for advanced testing in accordance with the Water Pollution Control Regulation and delivered to TÜBİTAK MAM for examination, as well as to Bolu Food Control Laboratory for bacteriological analysis and heavy metal analysis. In addition, in order to make assessments in accordance with the Swimming Water Quality Regulation, water samples were taken from 12 different points and analyzed by Düzce Provincial Health Directorate. As a result of the analyses conducted on the samples taken, it was understood that there was no mucilage. The seawater in Akçakoca beaches is regularly monitored with water samples taken periodically.’
