Söke City Council held its election general assembly meeting. In the election, Dilber Özgün became the new president of the City Council.
The 2024-2026 1st Term Election General Assembly of Söke City Council was held at Vali Recep Yazıcıoğlu Culture Hall of Söke Municipality. The general assembly meeting of Söke City Council, convened upon the call of Söke Mayor Dr. Mustafa İberya Arıkan, was held with broad participation. Representatives of public institutions and organizations, political parties, non-governmental organizations, and neighborhood heads, which constitute the components of the City Council, attended.
In his opening speech, Söke Mayor Dr. Mustafa İberya Arıkan stated, ‘City councils are of great importance in creating a more livable, sustainable, and participatory city in many areas. Stakeholders coming together at the City Council take on the responsibility of building a better future through common sense and cooperation. Acting with the awareness of this responsibility, embracing a participatory and transparent management style, I believe that different perspectives and suggestions will lead to the emergence of new ideas that will add value to our city. With its wide range, Söke City Council will provide this. Dear Participants, strengthening the economic, social, and cultural structure of our city, producing solutions to environmental problems, ensuring social justice, and improving the quality of life of all our citizens are among our main goals. To achieve these goals, we must work together, act with common sense and cooperation. In this context, the importance of the City Council once again emerges. I wish that the decisions we make together, the projects we undertake, and the steps we take will be beneficial for our city and our people. I hope that today’s general assembly will yield good results for our Söke.’
The presiding board of Söke City Council, chaired by Levent Tuna, one of the founding presidents of the City Council, included Nimet İncedal, the President of the Söke Branch of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), and Levent Tuncer, the Vice President of the Söke Branch of the Journalists’ Association of Turkey (AGC).
As a result of the election, Dilber Özgün became the new president of Söke City Council. The executive board of Söke City Council included Huriye Yöntem Malgaz, Nazlı Atbinici, Hayal Üzüm, Ferahnaz Öztürk, Naz Tuğçe Ceylan, Mahir Can Ağır, and Hülya Emre Yıldız.
Refik Karataş, Arda Canbul, Şule Akalın, Nejla Baştuğ, Şenay Güneş, Ümit Coşkun, and Ali Öztürk were determined as alternate members of the executive board.
