Office Memur-Sen President Yusuf Yazgan stated that they walked 3.6 million steps from Bolu to Ankara to demand the enactment of 3600 additional indicators.
Office Memur-Sen President Yusuf Yazgan met with union members at the union building in Konya. In his statement here, President Yazgan, who stated that they could not achieve what they wanted in 3 out of the 4 items in their action plan, mentioned that they will walk from Bolu to Ankara to make their voices heard. Yazgan expressed their demand for the enactment of 3600 additional indicators by walking 3.6 million steps from Bolu to Ankara.
“We, as public servants, expect the regulation to be made as soon as possible”
Office Memur-Sen General President Yusuf Yazgan, explaining that they, as Office Memur-Sen and public servants, have certain difficulties, said, “One of these is the issue of 3600 additional indicators. The issue of 3600 additional indicators was supposed to be given to 4 professional groups. Later, as a result of the struggles, the scope was expanded in the collective agreement to include experts, auditors, branch managers, and then a process related to granting 3600 additional indicators to all public servants who have reached the first degree followed. The process of 3600 additional indicators should be completed before the end of this collective agreement period for public servants. Because 3600 makes a significant difference for public servants both in terms of retirement and salaries,” continued Yazgan, “Another issue is, of course, the collective agreement bonus. With the Republican People’s Party taking it to the Constitutional Court, the collective agreement bonus paid to unionized public servants was 300 liras, which has now reached close to 400 liras, was canceled. This was important for encouraging unionization for Union of Civil Servants. The same practice exists for political parties as well. Political parties below a certain threshold cannot benefit from treasury aid, while political parties above a certain threshold benefit from treasury aid according to their vote percentage. There are also collective agreement bonuses in labor unions. They are paid to workers in each collective agreement period. It is not possible to understand the decision of the Constitutional Court to cancel the collective agreement bonus paid to civil servants” he said.
“We will walk 3.6 million steps from Bolu to Ankara”
Yazgan, stating that in the fourth stage of their action plan if their demands are not met, they will walk from Bolu to Ankara, taking 3.6 million steps, said, “We have put forward a 4-stage action plan. Firstly, we announced it to the public with a press release and for a week, we demonstrated this awareness by wearing badges in all institutions, 300,000 of our service branch, 300,000 public servants, and 113,000 of our members wore badges to show this awareness in institutions. We carried our badges related to 3600 and other issues on our collars for a week. Then a mass press release was held in Ankara and a petition campaign was started here. We are starting a petition campaign in institutions in Turkey, and after collecting these petitions, we will deliver them to the relevant points after the Bolu-Ankara walk we will start on July 24. The fourth stage of our action is the Bolu-Ankara walk stage. We will take 3.6 million steps from Bolu to Ankara. Because we want 3600, we demand the granting of 3600” he said.
