The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) market closing took place yesterday with a gong ceremony celebrating Turkcell’s 30th anniversary. Speaking at the ceremony held in honor of Turkcell’s 30th year, which was the first company to be listed on both the Istanbul and New York stock exchanges simultaneously, Turkcell CEO Dr. Ali Taha Koç said, ‘Turkcell shares have been trading on the New York Stock Exchange for about a quarter of a century. As a telecommunications operator, we are the leading company in our sector with our identity as an end-to-end technology provider.’ Turkcell, which has been trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for 24 years, organized a gong ceremony in honor of the company’s 30th anniversary. Following the ringing of the gong at the market closing on Monday, July 8th, milestones from 1994 to 2024 were shared at the meeting. Turkcell CEO Dr. Ali Taha Koç, stating that they operate in various fields from internet provision to digital payment systems, from mobile messaging applications to digital music platforms, from data centers to cloud technologies, mentioned, ‘In addition to these, we provide innovative solutions with our different companies operating in e-commerce, gaming industry, call center management, energy production, and many other fields. We meet all the digital transformation needs of individuals and institutions. That’s why we define ourselves as an end-to-end technology provider.’ Koç, stating that Turkcell is strategically important not only for Turkey in terms of its economic and social contributions but also in terms of national interests, said, ‘As Turkcell of Turkey, our goal is to position our country as a ‘global data hub.’ In other words, we will be the ‘game changer’ in the region.’ Mentioning that they took a step for the establishment of a new company in January with this vision, Koç expressed that the company, which is in the establishment phase under the name TDC, started to work with the goal of taking Turkey to the global arena in the field of ‘global data ownership.’ Ali Taha Koç, stating that their data center investments have exceeded 350 million dollars with a total of 33 data centers, 4 of which are next-generation and having approximately 32 thousand square meters of active white space, said, ‘With our 4 new generation data centers, we provide cloud and data hosting services to 4 thousand local and foreign companies. We are strengthening our position as Turkcell in this new world where technology and data are powerful, and we are working with all our might to make Turkey the data hub of the region.’ and shared the details of their new investments: ‘The business goal of our company, which we will establish under the name TDC Data Hosting Services, is to make our country one of the leading data and cloud technology hubs in the world. Along with our European Data Center, the investments we have made in this area have exceeded 350 million dollars. We have taken these steps to transform Turkey into the data hub of the neighboring geography.’ Ali Taha Koç, who also mentioned the global change in the technology world, said, ‘We are facing something different from all the technologies humanity has produced so far: Artificial Intelligence. We are witnessing a very fast and complex development. In fact, this is an era change. We have moved from ‘connecting everyone to each other’ to ‘connecting everything to each other’ era. In this era, there is a mutual nourishment cycle between technology and data. Therefore, ‘data ownership’ is of great importance. The expression of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ‘The world is bigger than five’ is also valid for this issue. Because in the world of technology, power is not in ‘5,’ but in those who have data, store data, process it, and analyze it. I believe that Turkey, under the leadership of Turkcell, will also be in the ‘new power arena of the new world.’ When Turkey becomes a data hub, what will happen? By 2030, taking a share from global artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, data ownership, data management, and operations areas amounting to 2 trillion dollars will increase Turkey’s global power in a strategic area. When our country becomes a global data hub, it will contribute positively to the national economy, while also opening the door to developments that will affect end users. It will bring along a series of important advantages such as a more stable and faster internet connection, more advanced cloud services, digital services, and a more competitive and higher service quality. ‘Everything works with Turkcell, Turkcell works with everyone’ Describing the journey from voice and data operatorship to end-to-end technology provision, Koç stated that Turkcell, one of Turkey’s most respected and valuable institutions, celebrated its 30th anniversary. Dr. Koç said, ‘We are happy to have contributed greatly to Turkey reaching the level of ‘contemporary civilizations’ of our 100-year-old Republic by achieving firsts in the field of ‘technology.’ I thank everyone who has passed through Turkcell’s path in 30 years, turning this brand into Turkey’s Turkcell. We thank all our customers who have represented Turkcell all over our country, worked for Turkcell in all corners of the world, and those thousands of business partners we have achieved success together with, who have experienced the excitement of the first ‘Hello’ from their mobile phones and have connected to life with us. We are the Leader Mobile Operator, Leader System Integrator, Leader Data Center Operator, and Leader Digital Service Provider of Turkey. Looking proudly at our history that leaves a mark on Turkey’s digital journey, we see that Turkcell is present wherever technology is. From individuals to objects, from companies to the technology ecosystem and dozens of sectors, from social responsibility to environmental sustainability. Everything works with Turkcell, Turkcell works with everyone.’ ‘300 million dollars in the last 10 years to social benefit projects’ Koç: ‘Since the day we were founded, we have been with millions of citizens from every age group and every segment of society in education, sports, culture and arts, and sustainability. Our social contribution has exceeded 300 million dollars in the last 10 years. We contribute to employment with thousands of our employees. Since 2002, we have provided support worth billions of liras to sports and athletes. Our goal in sustainability is to become a net zero company in carbon footprint by 2050. In short, Turkcell has been and will continue to be present in every aspect of life as it has been for 30 years. Our determination to take Turkey’s Turkcell and our country to much brighter tomorrows will continue under all circumstances.’
