Due to the hailstorm over the weekend, the Erzincan Agriculture Provincial Directorate teams have started to work on identifying the damages in agricultural areas in Üzümlü district and central villages. Especially in the villages of Karakaya, Pişkidağ, and Göller affiliated with Üzümlü, the technical teams affiliated with Üzümlü District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate started damage assessment work in the field after the hailstorm. The hailstorm that occurred on Sunday was effective in regions where the geographical indication Cimin Grape is intensively grown. As a result of the initial work done by the technical teams, it was determined that the hailstorm damaged vineyards in the region, as well as apple, cherry, and mulberry orchards, and tomato, pepper, and bean fields. Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Murat Şahin, who personally participated in the damage assessment work, stated that there were breakages and cracks in the shoots, leaves, and fruit parts of plants in the regions affected by the hailstorm. Director Şahin mentioned that the technical teams affiliated with the Üzümlü District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate continue the damage assessment work in the affected field without interruption, and he noted that the final report will be available within a week. Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Şahin, estimating that approximately 1300 hectares of vegetable and fruit cultivated areas were affected in the region where the hailstorm occurred, stated that according to initial assessments, about 200 cultivated areas belonging to producers were damaged. Director Şahin emphasized the importance of agricultural insurance by stating that the damage in the region will be clearly revealed after the examinations by technical teams, highlighting the importance of agricultural insurance due to such natural disasters that occur from time to time.
