The Champion Villages League Football Tournament started in Bolu with the participation of 64 village teams. The tournament, which has attracted great interest from the citizens, will last for 40 days. The Champion Villages League Football Tournament, which started in Bolu in 2022 with 28 village teams, entered its 3rd year with 64 village teams. The fixture of the tournament, in which 64 teams participated weeks ago, was drawn. The teams started their first matches in the evening and will compete against each other for 40 days. The tournament organized by the Bolu Amateur Sports Clubs Federation (ASKF) and the Village Headmen’s Association is receiving great attention. Cemalettin Metin, the President of Bolu ASKF, stated that they are in the 3rd year of the tournament this year, saying, ‘The tournament we started with 28 teams has now grown to 64 teams. If Bolu is to become a sports city and contribute to sports tourism, this tournament is one of the foremost. The stands are full. You see crowds of people everywhere. We spend a season full of events in Bolu for 12 months. I wish success to all teams participating here. Hopefully, it will be a tournament without accidents, troubles, injuries, where the deserving will win. I also thank all the participating teams. We are planning for about 40 days, but if anything unforeseen happens, like weather conditions, we are thinking of finishing around August 13-15.’ Aydın Özdoğan, the President of the Village Headmen’s Association, said, ‘The youths of the villages get to know each other. That’s the most beautiful part. After all, it’s called a friendship tournament. When you look at these matches, you see children coming, mothers and fathers coming, grandfathers and grandmothers coming to watch their grandchildren. It is very important in that sense. When children meet on the street tomorrow, these children didn’t know each other’s villages. They get to know each other this way.’
