Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumaklı, who attended the barley harvest ceremony in Eskişehir, stated that ‘It is not true that all warehouses are full. In fact, unfortunately, this misinformation is taken further by claiming that all warehouses are filled with imported products. This is definitely not true.’ Minister Yumaklı, who came to Eskişehir to participate in a series of programs, attended the harvest ceremony held in a barley field in Gökpınar Mahallesi, a district of Günyüzü. The field owner Oğuzhan Kıymıkoğlu provided detailed information about the work to Minister Yumaklı. Yumaklı, who also used a combine harvester during the harvest, made a statement to the journalists after the harvest. Minister Yumaklı, stating that the harvest is continuing nationwide and is about 60% completed, expressed that they estimate that strategic products referred to as cereals will reach approximately 30 million tons only for wheat and barley this year.’The rumor that all warehouses are filled with imported products is not true.’ Minister Yumaklı, stating that they are monitoring that the harvest of these products is progressing much faster compared to previous years, said, ‘One of the most important effects of climate change is that the harvest and planting seasons are about two weeks earlier. The Grain Board of Turkey (TMO) has announced reference prices within the framework of market regulation duties. These reference prices are not ceiling prices. We always emphasize this. Therefore, I would like to underline once again that if the price offered by the producers is lower than this reference price, TMO is ready to make purchases. So far, there have been appointments for 6 million tons of products to be given to TMO by the producers. 2 million tons of this has been delivered to TMO. As you know, last year TMO also set a record by purchasing over 13 million tons of products in the Republic’s history. We want to emphasize this. Because, unfortunately, despite all our warnings and alerts, we sometimes hear that it is claimed that TMO’s warehouses are full or there are problems with purchases. None of these are true. TMO is fully prepared this year as well, with the capacity to buy products if necessary, just like last year, without causing any distress to the producers. It is not true that all warehouses are full. In fact, unfortunately, this misinformation is taken further by claiming that all warehouses are filled with imported products. This is definitely not true. I would also like to mention that over 90% of these warehouses consist of products produced in our country.’ Minister Yumaklı wished a fruitful and blessed harvest season to all farmers and the country, and then visited the Günyüzü Municipality. Minister Yumaklı was accompanied by Mustafa Destici, the Leader of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), Eskişehir Governor Hüseyin Aksoy, AK Party Eskişehir Deputy Nebi Hatipoğlu, Günyüzü District Governor Muhammed Raşit Kurt, Günyüzü Mayor Hidayet Özmen, Eskişehir Regional Director of Forestry İsmail Çetin, Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ender Muhammed Gümüş, AK Party Provincial Chairman Gürhan Albayrak, and other officials.
