Galatasaray legend Fatih Terim, on the 50th anniversary of his first signature for the yellow-red club, said, ‘That day I was an excited young man; now, a much more experienced person who has lived a life with millions of people over half a century. How fortunate that; 50 years later, 100 years later, Galatasaray will always exist.’ Turkish football icon Fatih Terim, who achieved many successes with Galatasaray, signed with the club on July 8, 1974, and today marks 50 years since then. Terim wore the yellow-red jersey for 11 seasons until the 1984-1985 season. After his playing career, he also served as a coach in four different periods at Galatasaray, winning the Super Lig championship 8 times. The experienced coach also led the team to UEFA Cup victory in 2000. Terim shared a post on his social media account commemorating the 50th anniversary of his signing with Galatasaray. Thanking those who accompanied him during this journey, Fatih Terim stated, ‘Life is a big cycle. It provides you with countless memories for 50 years and eventually brings you back to the same place. Half a century ago today, the circle started to turn with a signature at Galatasaray Island. Since that day, wherever I go in the world, Galatasaray has been added next to my name, proudly marking every step I take. While life flows on, I have experienced all my emotions within the triangle I established on July 8, 1974: My family, my friends whom I love as much as my family, and Galatasaray. Life has taught me this: If you remove even one of your experiences from the picture, the story you tell ceases to be yours. You start living someone else’s story in your own world. Sometimes, when you think about 50 years ahead from the moment you are in, time can seem daunting. Other times, the 50 years you have left behind can give you hope. That day I was an excited young man; now, a much more experienced person who has lived a life with millions of people over half a century. How fortunate that; 50 years later, 100 years later, Galatasaray will always exist. I thank everyone who accompanied me in my story, who lived my story with me.’
