Meram district municipality in the center of Konya completed the ‘Historical Meram Tea Garden’ project, which will revive the history and create moments for its guests. The tea garden, arranged while preserving the historical and green texture of the region, has started its services with its new face.

The Historical Meram Tea Garden started its services with an opening attended by AK Party Konya Provincial Chairman Hasan Angı, AK Party Konya Deputy Selman Özboyacı, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, municipal council members, AK Party Provincial and Meram District board members, Women and Youth Branch members. Emphasizing that the ‘Historical Meram Tea Garden’, located right next to the Meram Bridge, is one of the most important stopping points for both the city’s residents and visitors from outside the city, Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş wished the tea garden to be auspicious for the city and the district.

‘The arrangement will revive the spirit of Meram’
Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, stating that his own childhood and youth passed here like all Meram locals, emphasized the spiritual value of the revival of the tea garden for Meram. Stressing that the trees and greenery here are also magnificent, Mayor Kavuş said, ‘The preservation of Meram Culture is very precious in terms of traditions and customs. We wanted to reflect and revive the past directly. Even the tables and chairs used here are the same as those used in that period. Guests will reminisce about the old days while sipping their teas, sherbets, and eating their corn and sunflower seeds.’

‘This area will return to its lively old days’
Mayor Kavuş noted that the Historical Tea Garden is located in the very center of the Meram tourism and excursion destination consisting of 9 points. ‘This area will also provide significant support to our tourism destination that starts with Meram Vineyard and ends with Meram People’s Garden. Areas such as the terrace floor just below the Tavusbaba Tomb and the area along the tea shore have been arranged within the scope of the works. The arrangement was completed quickly so that our fellow citizens and guests do not miss the beauty of the summer months. As a result of these works, this area will return to its lively old days. With this pride and happiness, may our tea garden bring goodness to our city and district,’ he said. After Mayor Mustafa Kavuş’s speech, the historical ‘Meram Family Tea Garden’ was opened.
