TESK President Bendevi Palandöken, stating that it is not possible for inflation to decrease with the recent price increases, mentioned that it is not possible for inflation to decrease with the recent price hikes. He emphasized that with the summer season and consecutive price increases, it is not possible to expect a decrease in prices of field crops, vegetables, fruits, and other products. He pointed out that the recent increase in fuel prices, a 38% increase in electricity prices, and upcoming natural gas price hikes make it impossible for prices to come down in the service sector.
“Market needs a trust environment, not price increases”. TESK President Bendevi Palandöken expressed that in order for a trust environment to be established in the market, price increases need to be stopped. He highlighted that in order for inflation to decrease, markets need to be given confidence, meaning no price hikes should occur. He mentioned the consecutive price hikes in the service sector and essential utilities such as electricity, natural gas, and fuel. He stressed the importance of restoring confidence in the markets, as citizens cannot avoid these price increases while using public transportation or necessary goods.
“Price increases on essential goods affect consumers 10 times more”. Palandöken stated that in order to increase production and reduce basic input costs, it is necessary to stop price hikes. He underlined that the solution is not to view price increases as a remedy, as the success in the economic recovery phase is overshadowed by these difficulties. He emphasized the importance of increasing production and reducing basic input costs. He also mentioned the need for fairness in rents and taxes to bridge the gap, rather than imposing daily price increases on all goods and materials. He pointed out that a price increase on a product like chewing gum, which contains 1 gram of sugar, reflects back to consumers as a 10 TL increase due to price hikes on basic products. Palandöken urged to stop the price hikes for the sake of economic recovery.
