ADANA (İHA) – Mahmut Dal, who started as a seasonal worker in the district of Saimbeyli in Adana and later became the mayor, has started working to make Saimbeyli a prominent eco-tourism destination. Located in the north of Adana, the district of Saimbeyli, with its forests, sinkhole waterfall, historical structures, and the endemic Saimbeyli butterfly, is preparing to become a center of attraction in eco-tourism through the efforts of Mayor Mahmut Dal. Elected as the Mayor independently, Mahmut Dal won the hearts of thousands of people in the district during the local elections on March 31, and now he has started investment efforts for the district to become a favorite destination in the region with its nature, history, and endemic biodiversity. Mayor Mahmut Dal stated that for the first time this year, they will organize the Saimbeyli Blue Butterfly Observation and Photography Event on June 8-12, mentioning that out of the 400 butterfly species in Turkey, 198 species can be found in Saimbeyli.
I entered the municipality as a seasonal worker. Highlighting the magnificent nature of Saimbeyli, which is the lungs of Adana, and inviting everyone to the district, Mayor Dal said, ‘I am a native of Saimbeyli. I worked in the private sector and then joined the municipality as a seasonal worker in 2004. Years passed, I became a permanent staff. I served as the Director of Public Works and Urban Planning, and with the support of our people in this election, I was elected as the mayor. Our district is a pristine land with untouched nature and history. Our district is very rich in terms of nature. It has been neglected until now, but we are striving for it to receive the attention and investment it deserves during my term. We have prepared projects to promote tourism in the district in terms of eco-tourism, highland tourism, history, and nature, and to increase production in the agricultural sector. We aim to achieve this by using funds from the European Union and the World Bank, rather than relying solely on the resources of our state. I believe that with the support of our state, our district will reach a much better place it deserves.’
‘Adana’s naturally air-conditioned district.’ Mayor Mahmut Dal emphasized the necessity of experiencing the historical and natural beauty of Saimbeyli and drew attention to the tourism potential in the district. ‘Our district of Saimbeyli is a district with such a rich history that it can be said to have served as a capital in history. Our cherries are a brand with their quality and taste, and we have the Blue Butterfly living in the endemic climate zone. This year, for the first time, we are promoting this through photo week activities in cooperation with our Governor and District Governor. Additionally, we call our district the natural air-conditioned district of Adana with our Sinkhole Waterfall and nature park. We invite everyone from Adana, Mersin, and all corners of Turkey to our lovely district where people can come to relax and have a holiday.’
