The General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) in Ankara’s Polatlı district has started harvesting on 80,000 acres of cultivated agricultural land with 18 combine harvesters, 7 trucks, and 30 workers. The harvest continues at the regional enterprises affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM). In this context, the harvest has also begun at the Polatlı Agricultural Enterprise Directorate, which is the 4th largest enterprise of TİGEM with an asset of 215,000 acres.
90% of the harvest is wheat, being carried out on approximately 80,000 acres of cultivated land with 18 combine harvesters, 7 trucks, and 30 workers. The harvest, where the fruits of labor are obtained, is being carried out meticulously. Wheat grains, carefully separated with the help of technological tools, are stored in the silos of TİGEM, which makes a significant contribution to the Turkish economy.
An average yield of 15,000 to 20,000 tons is obtained annually. Evren Albayrak, the Deputy Director of Plant Production at TİGEM Polatlı Enterprise Directorate, stated to an IHA reporter, ‘Approximately 15,000 to 20,000 tons of seed production is realized annually at our Polatlı TİGEM enterprise. This figure varies depending on climatic conditions, decreasing and increasing in dry and rainy years.’ Albayrak also mentioned the wheat varieties produced at the enterprise, stating, ‘We continue to produce Reis, bezostaja, and tosunbey bread wheat varieties. Additionally, this year, we have included our local variety named selamibey and karakilcik in our production pattern. After the production studies of these varieties are completed, they will continue to be included in our production pattern.’
Albayrak added, ‘This year, we are carrying out our cereal harvest with 18 combines, 7 trucks, and 30 workers. Crop seeds are sieved and packaged at modern seed processing facilities at a rate of 20 tons per hour and offered to our country’s farmers. The distributed seedlings correspond to approximately 450,000 acres of cultivated land in our country.’ Describing the features of TİGEM’s Polatlı enterprises, Albayrak said, ‘The Polatlı TİGEM enterprise is the 4th largest with an area of approximately 211,000 acres. We have field crops on 180,000 acres in the 211,000-acre area, while the remaining lands are used as pasture and non-agricultural areas.’ Albayrak also noted that the harvest will be completed within 15 to 20 days.
