70-year-old Ramazan Kanlıoğlu, who was operated on after suffering a brain hemorrhage in Didim district of Aydın and transferred to Atatürk State Hospital, became the hope for 3 patients with organs donated by his family.
According to the information obtained, Ramazan Kanlıoğlu, 70 years old, fell ill and was taken to Didim State Hospital. Diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage, Kanlıoğlu was operated on and transferred to Atatürk State Hospital. Despite all interventions made by the relevant specialty physicians at Atatürk State Hospital, Kanlıoğlu experienced brain death. Following discussions between the Organ Transplant Coordination of Atatürk State Hospital and Ramazan Kanlıoğlu’s family, the family consented to organ donation. After the family’s approval of organ donation, the Ministry of Health was informed, and as a result of the planning with Izmir Regional Coordination Center, it was decided that due to the age of the patient, heart transplant was not suitable. According to the tissue sample results by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordination Center, the left kidney was sent to Izmir Tepecik Hospital, the liver to a private hospital in Izmir, and the right kidney to Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in Denizli.
Aydın Provincial Health Director Dr. Eser Şenkul expressed condolences to the grieving family of Ramazan Kanlıoğlu, who gave hope to 3 people through organ donation. Dr. Şenkul extended gratitude to the Kanlıoğlu family for their sensitivity and exemplary behavior, stating that their approval of organ donation brought a new hope for life to patients waiting for organ transplants.
