Participants discussed topics related to social, economic, and educational fields that concern them in separate sessions. Mayor Boltaç emphasized the contribution of women throughout history with their labor, sacrifice, and determination in shaping society. He also stated that women still face obstacles from patriarchal power structures and hegemonic systems, highlighting that it is a priority for women to be stronger, more effective, and freer individuals in all areas. Boltaç stressed the importance of empowering women in society. Continuing his speech, Mayor Boltaç stated, ‘A society where women are strong is stronger in every aspect. The participation of women in the workforce is one of the most important keys to economic development. We are striving for women to have a greater presence in politics, science, art, and sports. Projects and initiatives led by women enhance social welfare and advance Tarsus further.’ Mayor Boltaç highlighted the success of women, stating, ‘In our society, male dominant structures and patriarchal power pose numerous obstacles to women. It is our responsibility to combat these structures and ensure the equality that women deserve. In this regard, the success and empowerment of women translate into the strengthening of Tarsus and our country.’ Addressing the importance of women’s employment, Boltaç continued, ‘As Tarsus Municipality, we endeavor to increase women’s presence in social life, gain economic freedoms, and stand on their own feet. We continue to support women through workforce training programs aimed at increasing female employment, projects supporting women entrepreneurs, and activities promoting women’s active participation in social life.
