Women’s guesthouse has been transferred to the Municipality of Akdeniz.

By the decision of the Akdeniz Municipality Council of the central district of Mersin, the council decision dated December 4, 2023, numbered 131, which allocated the ownership of the Women’s Guesthouse, owned by the municipality, to the ministry in the previous administration, was revoked. With the decision taken unanimously, the women’s guesthouse building was transferred to the Akdeniz Municipality.

The Akdeniz Municipality Council held its Second Session of the July Monthly Meeting under the chairmanship of Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız. During the meeting, the agenda item regarding the cancellation of the allocation process related to the women’s guesthouse, owned by the Akdeniz Municipality and previously allocated to the ministry by a council decision of the previous administration, was discussed. With the unanimous decision from the commissions to cancel the allocation, the integration of the guesthouse building built by the municipality in previous years into the Akdeniz Municipality took place.

Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız made a statement in response to some criticisms from council members regarding the previous administration. Sarıyıldız said, ‘It is not right for some actions of the previous administration to be on the agenda or discussed at every council meeting. Let’s discuss ‘how can we do better in the future,’ such as how we can make the women’s guesthouse available to our people or how we can create an additional budget or support for it. Especially, if we look at such issues from a positive perspective, our council will function more healthily and in a more coordinated manner. This decision taken unanimously in the commission works is really important for us. The continuation of our council meetings in this way is also very valuable for us.’
