Kurum, emphasizing that they continue all kinds of work in the region after the disaster, stated, ‘As the state, we have tried to make every effort with our people for our disaster-stricken region to recover.’ Upon taking office as the Minister, Murat Kurum, who came to Malatya, a seismic zone, inspected the ongoing housing and workplace projects, and received information from the authorities. Minister Kurum, who also visited the Akçadağ district, one of the districts affected by the February 6 earthquakes, inspected the market project under construction in the district center and received information from the officials there. Later, Minister Kurum and his entourage visited the Doğan family, earthquake survivors who have settled in the earthquake houses built by TOKİ in the district. Kurum said, ‘As the state, we have tried to make every effort with our people for our disaster-stricken region to recover. After the February 6 events, we cleared the rubble, made damage assessments, selected locations for new houses, and laid their foundations. Today, we are grateful to witness your happiness by coming to your home. The best thing for us is this, your prayers for us are the greatest happiness for us. You are living here with your family and children in peace in these sturdy houses. Our only wish is this. May it be auspicious, may you live happily.’ Kurum stated that they will be here with their team until all earthquake survivors receive their homes, ‘We will address any deficiencies, follow up, and hopefully, together, we will continue to bring smiles to the faces of Malatya by building new Akçadağ, new Doğanşehir, new Battalgazi, new Yeşilyurt. We will deliver our houses in Akçadağ and all earthquake zones as soon as possible, just like these houses.’ Earthquake survivor Servet Doğan, a 50-year-old who has found his new home after the earthquake, thanked the government, especially President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying, ‘Our state has thankfully done everything necessary. These places were built and delivered, and we want everyone to move into their homes as soon as possible. The houses are very beautiful, our state has done the highest quality in everything. I thank everyone involved.’
