Between July 15 and September 30, access to forests throughout the province in Zonguldak was prohibited.

The Zonguldak Governorship has taken a decision containing new measures and prohibitions to prevent forest fires. In this context, access to forests throughout the province was prohibited between July 15, 2024, and September 30, 2024. The decision was made within the framework of the Forest Law No. 6831, Provincial Administration Law No. 5442, Misdemeanors Law No. 5326, and the decision of the Zonguldak Province Forest Fire Fighting Commission dated May 29, 2024.

According to the statement made by the Governorship, access to forests was prohibited between July 15 and September 30. However, authorized personnel, licensed beekeepers, and shepherds are exempt from this prohibition. Lighting fires such as barbecue, samovar, and similar in forested areas and areas close to forests was prohibited. In addition, burning stubble and similar activities will also be prohibited during this period.

The use of flammable materials such as fireworks and sky lanterns is prohibited in weddings and similar events held in areas near forests. Engaging in sports activities with vehicles such as ATV, UTV, motorcycles on forest roads, as well as setting up tent camps, is prohibited. Trekking activities can be carried out in registered areas with the notification to the relevant Forest Management Directorate.

Teams composed of Gendarmerie and Forest Conservation officers will meticulously monitor the implementation of the decisions taken. Village headmen will track entries and exits to the forest and report suspicious individuals to the relevant authorities.

Organizations responsible for the construction and maintenance of energy transmission lines will conduct necessary maintenance in the sections passing through forested areas. Legal action will be taken against those who do not comply with these measures and prohibitions in accordance with the Forest Law No. 6831, Provincial Administration Law No. 5442, Environment Law No. 2872, and Misdemeanors Law No. 5326.

The decision, put into effect with the signature of Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, will be implemented within the borders of Zonguldak province to prevent forest fires. Despite all precautions, in case of a fire report, all relevant institutions will immediately intervene to extinguish the fire.
