In Kars, a ‘Return to Western Azerbaijan Forum’ was organized. The event received great interest from the citizens. The ‘Return to Western Azerbaijan Forum’ held at the Kars Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism Conference Hall started with a moment of silence and the singing of the national anthems of both countries. The opening of the ‘Return to Western Azerbaijan Forum’, which continued with a slideshow, was addressed by the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars, Nuri Guliyev, who expressed his pleasure for the organization of the forum in Kars. Nuri Guluyev, the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars, stated, ‘Azerbaijani lands were under occupation for many years, and for the first time in Azerbaijani history, we started to reclaim them through a 40-day war. This reclamation is ongoing. Recently, we have taken back 4 more villages without firing a single bullet. Because now, our enemies and the countries supporting them have realized their limits. But one fact remains that today Armenia is actually a state established on Turkish lands. This is because especially after the Gulistan Treaty in 1813 and the Turkmenchay Treaty in 1828, the migration of Armenians to Azerbaijani lands began under the Tsarist Russia, and it was portrayed as if those lands belonged to them.’ Following him, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Diaspora Valeh Hacıyev stated, ‘Western Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani land, and the time will come when we will go to Yerevan for tea. But we will definitely go there. This is our natural right. This is the right of our ancestors. As Azerbaijani Turks, we are a connected nation. We are a nation connected to our land. It is not easy to separate us from each other. If in the 1800s, all countries of the world, especially the West, have distorted all the rights and justice of the Turks until now by standing behind Armenians, today, the rights and justice are on the side of the Turks.’ Following the speeches, the ‘Return to Western Azerbaijan Forum’ took place where the return to Western Azerbaijan was discussed. Plaques were presented to the participants after the event. The ‘Return to Western Azerbaijan Forum’ in Kars was attended by many including Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Diaspora Affairs Valeh Hacıyev, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars Nuri Guliyev, Mayor of Kars Prof. Dr. Ötüken Senger, Deputy President of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Associations Federation (TADEF) Perviz Memmedzade, Vice President of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Associations Federation Settar Kaya, and President of the Azerbaijan Caucasian Cultures Association Nebi Arığ, along with many citizens.
