Istanbul will host the 2025 European Para Youth Games.
The European Paralympic Committee announced that the 2025 European Para Youth Games (EPYG) will be held in Istanbul. Turkey and Portugal were the final two countries competing to host the 2025 European Para Youth Games, and Istanbul was unanimously chosen by the members of the European Paralympic Committee Board as the host city for this prestigious event.
Historical first for hosting a multi-sport Paralympic event
Turkey will host a multi-sport Paralympic event for the first time in its history. It is expected that in the summer of 2025, approximately 1,500 athletes, coaches, and officials will come to Istanbul for this event in 9 different sports. The Turkish Paralympic Committee will strive to open new doors for the development and impact of Paralympic sports in Turkey and Europe with this hosting.
Raymon Blondel: “Istanbul will provide a socially impactful opportunity”
The President of the European Paralympic Committee, Raymon Blondel, stated, “We are extremely pleased to announce Istanbul as the host city for the European Para Youth Games, which perfectly reflects our overall strategy for athletes, National Paralympic Committees, and International Federations. We believe that together with the Turkish National Paralympic Committee, we can provide the best environment for participants and also offer a broad social impact opportunity.”
Murat Aksu: “This candidacy is a milestone”
The President of the Turkish National Paralympic Committee, Murat Aksu, said, “We are proud to host the 2025 European Para Youth Games. This prestigious event is an important milestone to encourage disabled individuals to participate in Para sports. We invite all member countries of the European Paralympic Committee to Istanbul to witness our young Paralympic athletes competing in a memorable experience. We believe that the 2025 EPYG will be a great reference for other Paralympic events we apply for or will apply for, and more importantly, for Istanbul and Turkey.”
